BECOMING A LICENSED REAL ESTATE AGENT
This nationally accredited course is suitable for new entrants to the property industry, or Certificate Of Registration holders looking to obtain their Class 2 real estate licence.
This course meets the educational requirements set out by the NSW Office of Fair Trading to be eligible to apply for a Class 2 Real estate licence.
The Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice is an essential qualification, designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in the real estate industry in New South Wales. This qualification covers the legal and ethical aspects of property transactions, property management, sales techniques, and compliance with industry regulations.
All participants undertaking this course are required to provide their USI (Unique Student Identifier).
Career Pathways & Licensing Requirements:
In order to become a licensed real estate agent you must have held your Assistant Agent Licence for 12 months before applying. It is a requirement that all Certificate Of Registration holders transition to a Class 2 licence within a four-year period from the date of licence issue.

A class 2 licence allows you to:
- act as an agent for a client to sell, buy or exchange property, businesses or professional practices
- negotiate with clients and vendors
- collect rent, deposits, bond payments and fees related to a lease, licence or contract.
There are no educational requirements for this course.
To complete this course you will need the following resources:
- A device with Internet Access and webcam if attending Virtual Sessions
- Literacy, numeracy and technical skills at an Australian Year 12 level
- Computer and internet proficiency
- A USI Number
- Records of previous education transcripts for those who are already working in the industry
To achieve this qualification, competency must be achieved in each of the units outlined below as per the training package rules.
The enrolment period for this course is 12 months.

ASSESSMENTS:
To achieve competency in the required units, learners must complete a variety of theoretical and practical assessments. This includes a combination of written assessments, demonstration of skills in a simulated real estate agency, various scenarios, case studies, and roleplays.
