Course Overview

This course meets the educational requirements set out by the QLD Office of Fair Trading to be able to apply to become a fully licensed real estate agent.

A real estate licence in QLD allows you to:

  • Own or manage a real estate agency
  • Buy, sell, exchange, or rent houses, businesses, land, or any interest in these
  • Negotiate on behalf of a buyer, seller, landlord or exchange or rent houses, businesses or land
  • Show property to potential buyers
  • Inspect and assess property for sale or rent
  • Collect rent on behalf of a landlord
  • Advertise property for rent or sale (includes setting up signs)
  • Open up a property for inspection for sale or rent
  • Manage an apartment complex and sell any units independently, without having to work through an established agency
  • Operate a trust account on behalf of sellers and buyers.

This qualification applies to people working in both residential and commercial property, including business broking, and stock and station transactions.

  • Auctioneer
  • Stock and Station Agent
  • Business Broker, Business Agent, Franchise Broker
  • Property Manager, Body Corporate Manager
  • Real Estate Agent
  • Real Estate Representative, Real Estate Salesperson, Real Estate Sub-agent, Property Portfolio Officer, Buyer’s Agent.

REGISTER AS A REAL ESTATE SALESPERSON WITH THE QLD OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING.

Lodgement

When you lodge the form, you will need to attach formal identification. These documents must be original or certified copies.

  • Your identification must be a certified copy of any of the following documents:
    • Birth certificate or extract
    • Driver’s licence
    • Passport
    • Citizenship certificate
  • You will need to the required fees when you lodge your application.
  • You will also need to attach your proof of qualifications.
ELIGIBILITY (QLD FAIR TRADING)

To be eligible for a real estate salesperson certificate, you must:

  • be 18 or older
  • pass the required training courses.

Course Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Successfully complete the pre-enrolment LLN assessment.
  • Possess sufficient digital literacy for online course completion.
  • Note: Individuals on a student visa in Australia cannot enrol due to lack of CRICOS approval.

Resources Needed:

  • Device with internet access
  • Proficiency with computers and internet usage.
  • Previous education transcripts for credit transfer applicants.
  • All participants must provide their USI (Unique Student Identifier).

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 19 units of competency:

18 Units from the Certificate IV in real estate practice

1 additional unit taken as required by the Queensland Government.

Assessments

Assessments include written tasks, practical demonstrations in a simulated real estate agency, scenarios, case studies, and role-plays to ensure competency in all required units.

Assessments are usually marked within a 7 day period from submission, with feedback provided on any marks that are not yet competent.

Credit Transfers & RPL

Credit Transfer:

Learners who have successfully completed previous training and achieved equivalent units of competency may be eligible for credit transfer. To apply, please include this within the enrolment form, you will need to provide Under the Hammer with USI access in order to validate transcripts.

RPL:

The aim of recognition of prior learning is to reduce the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification or accredited course by acknowledging an individual’s skills and knowledge acquired through formal and informal learning and past work experience.

Learners wishing to apply for RPL should notify the office and will be sent an RPL and Documentation kit with outlines this process.
